National Gallery of London - Chronicles of Emptiness is an over painted book, the book being "Art Treasures of the National Gallery London" by Sir Philip Hendy published by Abrams 1955. I have drawn painted and collaged into each page as well as working on the verso of many of the tipped in plates. It is my twentieth over painted book work. This work is a sketch book, a memoir, a journal and a conversation with history. I will be posting new images each day.
As Kafka was torn between "themes and archetypes of alienation, physical and psychological brutality, parent–child conflict"(Wikipedia), the Canadian artist is well served by a reliance on the wistfulness and purity of Canadian landscapes lapping of fresh water in this wasteland that is Canadian art. Let the Pragian muse sigh while the North Shores muse roars.
